Born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky around a wealth of motorsports talent and disciplines; Josh found a love for racing at an early age. With the original paved oval of Kentucky Motor Speedway and the dirt oval of Windy Hollow Speedway on each side of his hometown; Josh would frequent weekly racing as a teen and would develop a second family at racing events. Inspired by the photography work of area photographers such as Richard Cunningham; Josh would pick up a camera to document the races for a few friends in 2009. With a drive to capture better images, and a true enjoyment and passion for photography, Josh James Artwork was started in 2010. In the years that followed Josh nurtured partnerships that would allow him to follow his passion of Motorsports Photography and travel the country covering the best drivers, series, and tracks that American short track racing has to offer.
Josh would also find employment in the Motorsports Industry working for the AFCO Performance Group in Boonville, Indiana building custom shock absorbers and suspension components for all disciplines of racing and learning the engineering behind the machines he enjoyed so much. He would manage the company's Shock Department until his departure in September 2019 when he relocated to Clarksville, Tennessee with his wife; Jenna.
Josh serves as a proud Series Photographer for FloRacing's Mini-Series FloRacing Night in America and the MARS Late Model and Modified Championship Series as well as contributing photographer for DirtOnDirt.com, World Racing Group's entities the World of Outlaws and DIRTcar Racing, USAC Racing, Speedway Illustrated, Dirt Empire Magazine, and Outside Groove. Josh brings his eye to the capture of motorsports and the men and women behind the machines and can be found doing so whenever and wherever the roar of engines can be heard.
